PE

Statement of Intent:

Here at Harrietsham Church of England Primary School, we hope to nurture and inspire a love of PE in every child through the teaching of high-quality physical education lessons, underpinned by the National Curriculum.  Sport is essential for every child’s development. Our PE curriculum, aims to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience a broad variety of traditional and non-traditional sports. Our curriculum is diverse and we look to include key sporting events, within our learning, ensuring children experience sport beyond the normal curriculum. Lessons are planned in detail, in a sequential and progressive way to ensure that children learn the specific skills within the unit, as well as progressively through the years enabling the child to flourish as a learner. Children will develop physically, through the participation and learning of skills and the leadership of others. They will also develop cognition, social and emotional aspects of PE, these are vital in developing an all round learner who can both physically and orally communicate how to improve and develop within the subject. Children will also learn the importance of respect and fairness by experiencing competition within school and against other schools, alongside beating their personal bests. We hope to enthral children to participate fully in the next stage of their education as well as to play sport beyond the school gates.
