On Tuesday the 14th January twenty Year 6 children took part in the Sportshall Athletics Competition at The Stour Centre in Ashford. The children participated in 3 or 4 activities each. These included track events, which included obstacles and relays, as well as field events like javelin, triple jump and vertical jump. The teams were split into ten boys and ten girls, each score was added to the score sheet and then the girls and boys scores were combined. Unfortunately, due to condensation forming on the floor, 3 track events had to be cancelled in order to keep the children safe! I am super proud of the Harrietsham team who came 15th out of 21 schools. Well done to the team - they, like myself, should be really proud of themselves for their conduct and sportsmanship throughout the event!
Team Harrietsham were AWESOME!
Here is what the children had to say:
Jimmy C: "My favourite activity was the relay because it was quick and fun."
August S: "My favourite activity was speed bounce because I love how quick you have to jump."
Poppy O: "My favourite event was 6 lap because we had to be tactical and think about how to run this the fastest."
