All Primary Schools in England have to partake in National Statutory testing.

We try to ensure that the children are as relaxed as possible for these assessments.  Our younger children see these assessments as fun activities carried out with a teacher. 

• Early Years Foundation Stage: In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS / Year R), the children complete a National Baseline Assessment in their first 6 weeks of joining the school.  They are then assessed at the end of the Year R against the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.  The children are unaware that the tasks they are completing are assessments; instead seeing them as fun activities carried out with their teacher.
• Phonics Screening: In Year 1, the children complete a Phonics Screening Test at the end of the year.  In Year 2, any child who did not pass the Phonics Screener in Year 1 will repeat this test.  Again, we keep this as relaxed as possible for the children.
• Multiplication Tables Check: In Year 4, the children complete a Multiplication Screening Test at the end of the year.  This is completed on the computer and is very similar to the activities that our children regularly complete on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS).
• Key Stage Two SATs: At the end of Year 6, the children complete their Key Stage Two SATs Tests.  They are tested in Reading, Maths and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS).  They are Teacher Assessed in Writing and Science.
