We are glad to be back and we are looking forward to a great year together!
This year, the children will be working with Mr Hyder, Mrs Finch and Mrs Russell on a regular basis. As we adjust to the new routines and return to normality, we will be starting to build on your learning from your previous years. As the last few months have been difficult on everyone, we know that there may be some gaps, so as a team, we will strive to help you understand and progress in your learning from where you are now. There is a lot of new terminology and many different skills, so there may be times where the year seems a little difficult, but by starting this early in the year, we get plenty of time to practise and you will become more and more confident. Please ask if you have questions in lessons – we want you to become more confident in your abilities and able to tackle new problems independently.
Year 5 is an important year, as it helps in preparation for the Kent test and future years in education. The quantity and quality of work is important to help if there is an appeal for secondary schools. The children should strive to meet our expectations for presentation, using neatly joined handwriting in pen. Another important thing to remember is the importance of checking through and editing work. Even as adults, people make mistakes, and making corrections to work shows dedication and understanding.
Try your best and we will be there to support you every step of the way. I am sure you will have a fantastic year, with great memories and knowledge that will stay with you as you progress up into the final year of primary school!
