The London Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012

This has now, sadly, come to an end, but the legacy of its values live on in Harrietsham Church of England School!

Olympic and Paralympic Values
  • respect – fair play; knowing one’s own limits; and taking care of one’s health and the environment
  • excellence – how to give the best of oneself, on the field of play or in life; taking part; and progressing according to one’s own objectives
  • friendship – how, through sport, to understand each other despite any differences

The Paralympic Values are based on the history of the Paralympic Games and the tradition of fair play and honourable sports competition.

    They are:

    • courage
    • determination
    • inspiration
    • equality
We have bought some special pencils which display the values with the acronym PRIDE:
PRIDE

Pride
Respect and Friendship
Inspiration
Determination and Courage
Equality

Each week our nominated 'star of the Week' receives a packet of these special pencils. In addition, individual pencils are given out to children who display any of these values in school.
