Work for Children

Dear Parents and Carers

We have been making decisions on a day to day basis, taking into account weather forecasts, safety and staff availability. Today, unfortunately, it is very icy around the school and would be dangerous even for those who could manage to walk to school. Snow is drifting with the A20 being closed again between Lenham and Charing. Harrietsham Station is also closed.
The weather forecasts are different on every website and change hourly which makes the decision even harder each day The weather and conditions around the school and site are unlikely to change so I have made the decision that the school will also be closed tomorrow. I have to think about the health and safety of children, parents and staff. We plan to reopen on Monday 5 March 2018 and to have the curriculum running as normal

The children are welcome to carry out a mini project about snow, this could include different types of snow, why does it snow? Measure how much snow has fallen or see how long a cup of snow takes to melt in different parts of the house and include some photographs. They can also include what they have been doing in the snow. We can then display these in school when the children return.

I would like to thank you for all your support and patience through this difficult time and I hope you are making some snowy memories!

Kind Regards
Ms L M Oliver
Headteacher
